Our approach

You bring the questions. We bring the calm.

Money work is personal.

We start every new relationship the same way: by listening. Before we talk about services or pricing, we want to understand your situation — your business, your goals, and what's been keeping you up at night.

We don't believe in forcing clients into generic packages. Every person and every business is different, and the support you need should reflect that.

Working remotely means we can be flexible, responsive, and available when it matters. You'll always know who you're talking to, and you'll never feel like a file number.

About Sara

Sara Rodrigues

MBA · BBA · Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB)

Hi, I'm Sara — the person behind S&T Books.

With over 8 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping and income tax filing, I started S&T Books because I believe small business owners and individuals deserve financial support that's approachable, thorough, and genuinely personal.

I hold an MBA, a BBA, and I am a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB). I stay involved in the day-to-day work — because that's where the details matter and where I can make the biggest difference for my clients.

My goal is simple: to keep things clear, jargon-free, and stress-free — so you can focus on what you do best.

A few things worth knowing.

Keep your receipts — all of them

Good bookkeeping starts with good habits. Keeping organized records of your income and expenses throughout the year makes tax time significantly less stressful — and can help you identify deductions you might otherwise miss.

Know your filing deadlines

For most individuals, the T1 personal tax return is due April 30. If you or your spouse are self-employed, you have until June 15 — but any balance owing is still due April 30.

Separate your business and personal finances

One of the most helpful things a small business owner can do is maintain a dedicated business bank account. It simplifies bookkeeping, makes tax preparation cleaner, and gives you a clearer picture of how your business is actually performing.

GST/HST registration thresholds

In Canada, you're generally required to register for GST/HST once your business revenue exceeds $30,000 in a calendar quarter or over four consecutive quarters. If you're approaching that threshold, it's worth having a conversation sooner rather than later.

Every situation is different — let's talk about yours.

FAQs

Questions we hear often.

Not necessarily — but many sole proprietors find that having organized books saves them significant time and stress, especially at tax time. Even basic bookkeeping support can help you stay on top of your finances and avoid surprises.

Yes. If you're a sole proprietor or freelancer, your business income is reported on your personal T1 return. We're experienced with self-employment filings and can help make sure everything is reported correctly.

Mostly, it makes things more convenient. We work with clients entirely online — documents are shared securely, communication happens by email or phone, and you don't need to take time out of your day to come to an office.

Ideally, throughout the year. Keeping organized records as you go makes the filing process much smoother. That said, if you're coming to us close to a deadline, we'll do our best to help you get things in order.

It depends on your situation. For personal returns, you'll typically need your T-slips, receipts for deductions, and any relevant notices from the CRA. For bookkeeping, we'll work with you to establish a process that fits how you operate.

Yes. Because we work entirely remotely, we're able to work with clients across Canada. If you're outside of Manitoba, feel free to reach out and we can discuss whether we're a good fit.

The easiest way is to fill out the quote request form on this page, or to reach out directly by phone or email. We'll have a conversation about your situation and go from there — no pressure, no commitment required.

These answers are general in nature. Every situation is unique — we encourage you to reach out so we can discuss what applies to yours.

Pricing

Transparent about what we don't know yet.

Pricing depends on the scope and complexity of your situation. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all rates — so we don't publish them.

Quote after conversation

After a brief conversation about your needs, we'll provide a clear, straightforward quote. No surprises, no hidden fees.
